Let’s just talk about when he came in the Munona Apartments, He Is a mysterious man with a weird past, it is not exactly sad, more like, disturbing, but the point is, that he arrived to Japan to live a life free of any past responsibility and start a new, until the day he finally dies, as he says.

He just wants to live calmly and such but he didn't had money enough to live alone so having a room shared with a roommate seemed like a good option, so he asked for the vacant spaces and he found out a college-aged student who was nice enough (more like obliged) to accept him in, and seriously he is just happy having a sofa and a table where to eat, He is a man with little needs and is okay like that, they both help each other with the payments of the rent and always tries to advise him once in a while.
